Culture and reawakening.

The Muwekma Ohlone people, indigenous to the San Francisco Bay Area for over 10,000 years, maintain a resilient culture deeply rooted in harmony with nature. They traditionally lived in organized villages, sustaining themselves through acorn harvesting, fishing, hunting, and gathering seasonal foods. Skilled in intricate basketry, regalia-making, and ceremonial dances with songs, they emphasize community, inter-tribal cooperation, language revitalization, and stewardship of ancestral lands. Today, they actively revive traditions, protect heritage sites, and celebrate through powwows and cultural events, preserving our enduring identity despite enormous historical challenges.
